Custom by Rushton was founded by Randy Rushton in 1994. Intertwining his background in drawing and industrial arts, Rushton transforms reclaimed cedar fences into a beautifully unique and efficient line of furniture. Each piece carries the mysticism of ancient cedar and the eros of nature into any space. “Sometimes things are so beautiful as they are. The process of sculpting was listening to each piece in a dance of positioning. I hand picked pickets from a sixty-year-old fence and from the day I saw the wood I knew I wanted it to continue to live amongst us.” Rushton works closely with local fence companies to acquire the reclaimed rails for his work and he is further inspired to use other reclaimed materials to emphasize the green nature of his pieces.
