Designers Nicky and Stuart Alden’s day job is running the successful design firm, Idaho Stew. In their pursuit of exploring other types of creativity, they started Ink Lounge, which they’ve deemed their creative playground. It is a studio where they can continue to experiment with the tactile materials and hand drawn illustrations that influence their daily design work. It is also an outlet where they are able to give back to their community by offering classes on the art of screenprinting to non-profits, school art programs, university design programs, and community groups. “We strive to keep true to our beliefs that creativity can do some good things for the world.”
Ink Lounge has exhibited work in Colorado, Idaho, Cuba, Australia, and Venezuela. They have had the honor of illustrating and printing posters for the 2008 Democratic National Convention, the 2010 HOW National Design Conference, and the Peace Corps 50th Anniversary Campaign. The company also offers a series of monthly workshops and open studio time, as well as free summer workshops for Urban Peak, Denver’s homeless youth program.
